Blue Plastic Pool

Today there's a blue plastic pool turned upside down in our yard.

Well, not our yard technically. We don't have any grass or dirt. We live on a cliff and park our car on the street, three stories up. Our yard is made out of wood. It's a deck as big as other people's lawns, and we don't have to mow it.

Like any kid under the age of two, Lucy loves to go outside and run around. Unfortunately, she gets splinters every time she falls. We'd buy her gloves, except her hands are too small. So we cut finger-holes into a pair of her socks. She calls them mittens.

But there's something about that pool showing up in our yard today. It's a milestone on the map of my life. It speaks to me.

It says, You Are Here.
