Tracks

I've always been interested in railroad architecture. Not the trains so much, but the landscape that supports them.

From kindergarten through high school, I walked across the same tracks every day on my way to school. I spent my weekends down there too, looking for things, getting dirty.

Nobody seemed to care about the tracks, as long as they worked. Constructed by man, and reclaimed by nature. They went on forever, like a river.

The Eau C.

Eau Claire, Wisconsin, has the best public library... with the largest, and deepest, photography section I've ever seen! Although I was only in town for one night, I checked out 25 monographs and read them after dinner.

I saw these guys hanging around the copy machine.

aquatennial

It's the middle of summer, and for something like ten nights in a row, Minneapolis hosts the aquatennial. There's fireworks and parades, bands and beer. But I never go. I'd rather stay in my neighborhood and ride my bike; maybe jump in the lake.

You Might See a Polar Bear

Drive a few hours north to Lake Superior, hang a left at the top, and keep going another 10 hours. You might see a polar bear.

a still-life portrait

Shot with natural light in my studio: a still-life portrait of a Travelers Insurance employee.

Apache Plaza Days

Digging through my files last night, I found this image from my first advertising job; shot right here in Minneapolis for Fallon at the Apache Plaza. The client was EDS.

Not exactly an Effie... but we won an award from the Santa Fe Center for Photography.
